BRMi is leading and executing the migration of software applications to a cloud platform for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on the Border Enforcement and Management Systems (BEMS) program. BRMi works directly with CBP project and cloud platform teams to refactor on-premises applications into “cloud ready” architectures compatible with the CBP cloud platform.
We successfully refactored the first BEMS application deployed to Amazon Web Services, the on-demand cloud platform provider, using container technology. We subsequently led cloud migration efforts for more than a dozen independent BEMS applications. Each of these migrations replaced traditional, “stovepiped” software architectures with applications that operate in scalable containers which utilize automation tools to build, test, security scan and deploy without human intervention.
This new architecture adds tremendous value by reducing the need for on-premises infrastructure support and eliminating manual processes previously performed by testers, security analysts and maintenance engineers. BRMi is helping the Department of Homeland Security to achieve its goal of consolidating data centers and following Cloud First strategies for IT projects while still supporting ongoing operations.
